Let Minnow Cafe

Prepare to spot more than seafood at Clayfield's new fish-themed cafe.

Overview

Spotting a fish or two — on the walls and in the business name, for example — is to be expected at Let Minnow Cafe. The menu features plenty, but the connection to aquatic life goes deeper than that. Before the Park Street Queenslander gave the place its home, the site previously hosted the Clayfield Aquarium.

That means fish tacos are on offer, of course, plus sardines, salmon and seasonal catches; however there's plenty of other options for those after non-seafood choices. Whether dining in for breakfast, brunch and lunch on Tuesdays to Sundays, or grabbing a takeaway coffee, you can take your pick from a list of new twists on old favourites. Choosing from the ever-popular squashed avocado with feta, savoury mince with fried eggs and breakfast sliders might just prove tough.

Showcasing local suppliers ranks among the cafe's aims, so expect to drink West End Teas and caffeinated brews from the Byron Bay-based Nat's Coffee — all served on crockery hand-made in Melbourne and boards from the Sunshine Coast. Expect to see that neighbourhood flair swimming around the decor as well, with the tables named after nearby streets.

Find Let Minnow Cafe at 57 Park Ave, Clayfield. For more information, visit their website and Facebook page.
