Earlier in 2020, just as Queenslanders were allowed to holiday within the state again, a new tiny home popped up in the Toowoomba region — perfect for everyone eager for a break from the city life, keen to get out of town and looking to launch themselves into the wilderness. Now, with holiday season upon us, that sweet little character has just scored a sibling venue. This additional place to stay is called Charlie, and it's just as adorable.

Boasting its own unique personality, this little guy is the latest eco-friendly tiny home from the crew at In2TheWild Tiny Holidays. Now boasting 22 signature mini escapes located across the country (including in NSW and Victoria), In2TheWild has expanded its Queensland footprint — so you have to miniature places to choose from.

Designed with a minimal environmental footprint and positioned in idyllic, natural surrounds, the off-grid home aims to offer an antidote to the daily grind. It also provides a chance to switch off, take a break from the hustle and bustle, and get back in touch with nature — and, by design, it's socially distanced, too.

Named after Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie is located northwest from Brisbane, about a two-hour drive from the CBD and 40 minutes north of Toowoomba. Even better — the mini abode sits on a 160-acre property and features views over the valley to the Blackall Range, so you won't be short on somewhere to roam or something gorgeous to look at.

Visitors will also be just a 20-minute drive from Crows Nest Falls Lookout, where you can take a hefty walk, soak in the scenery and enjoy a dip at a variety of swimming holes.

Each In2TheWild house features all the mod-cons necessary for a comfy countryside escape. In Charlie's case, the tiny house design boasts a queen bed next to a big window overlooking expansive views, as well as a single loft bed for extra guests. It's also decked out with heating, a fully equipped kitchen and a proper bathroom, complete with hot shower, toilet and basin.

An outdoor campfire, barbecue and seating mean the outside space also doubles as an extended living area. It's all powered by the sun and a couple of gas bottles, but you'll find books, boardgames, towels, linen and a USB charger to see you comfortably through your stay.

To help you really unplug, the exact locations of In2TheWild's tiny homes are shared just a few days before your stay — and they have little-to-no reception. However, they've all been carefully located to optimise that dose of Mother Nature, with easy access to activities like mountain biking, hiking, fishing and canoeing.

Charlie is located in Toowoomba region and is now taking bookings, starting from $239 per night midweek, with a minimum two-night stay.
