Overview

The Royal Exhibition Building is set to be overrun with pooches of every shape and size. Returning for its sixth year, the Melbourne Dog Lovers Show will welcome around 250 exhibitors and upwards of 30,000 visitors. Whether you're in the market for a new family pet or are just looking for a bit of a cuddle, you won't find a more adorable event in Melbourne. Obviously, cat people need not apply.

This year's show includes a number of special events for guests on two legs and four. For the first time the event will include the Common Woof Games, which will see chows and poodles come together as one species to jump over mini hurdles, play basketball (with their snouts!) and somehow throw a discus. There'll also be a doggy pool for belly flops and celebrity vets such as Dr. Katrina Warren and Dr Harry will run seminars on canine health. Several of Victoria's dog shelters will be there, with no shortage of rescued animals looking for permanent homes. Oh, and in case that doesn't make your heart melt, they've also got a dedicated puppy patting zone.
