Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne

The once magnificent 18th-century estate, Downhill Demesne, aka Downhill House, has now fallen into disrepair. The ruins are fascinating in their own way, but most people make a short trek to the cliffs to discover the Mussenden Temple.

Modelled on Rome's Temple of Vesta, the stunning architecture set against the ocean backdrop has made it one of Ireland's most photographed spots.

Eagle-eyed fans of Game of Thrones® will recognise the location. Both Mussenden Temple and Downhill Beach below were used as the exterior of Dragonstone in the iconic television series.
