Overview

Gusto Gelato ain't no regular ice cream shop. Situated by the water's edge on Newcastle Street, this $1.8 million gelataria is the crowning jewel in the Elizabeth Quay development. We mean that quite literally, too, the building was inspired by an Argyle pink diamond and boasts a gem-like shape and coloured glass exterior. And just like a diamond, it shines bright.

As does the gelato, handcrafted from scratch using the freshest ingredients and WA dairy, it's a delicious and authentic scoop. That's thanks to owner and gelato master Sean Lee, who honed his craft at gelato university in Bologna. Yes, gelato university is a thing, and yes, we're glad. Lee has perfected the art, staying true to the Italian method and flavour profiles — and with more than 20 different gelato available, there's something for even pickiest gelato connoisseur.

From apple pie to coconut milk and mango ripple, you really can't go wrong with any of the flavours. But, we suggest sampling its namesake gelato The Gutso, which is roasted peanut gelato with chocolate fudge ripple and chunks of brownie. It's decadent and delicious. The best part is, Gusto is open till 10pm every day of the week — that means you treat yourself to a tasty post-dinner scoop whenever you please.
