Overview

At 5000 years old, the rock tombs of the Domus de Janas display once again a unique heritage of the island of Sardinia.

Local legend says that the tombs were the homes of fairy creatures who would watch over the sleeping children of the town. In reality, these tombs were built during the are reminiscent of the Neolithic period and give a rare insight into the lives of an ancient civilisation.

There are over 2,500 of these tombs throughout the island. However, however, the Domus de Janas of Sedini in Sassari is the most notable.
