Marrickville mainstay The Vic on The Park is one of those pubs that seems to hold all the cards. The menu sticks to doing the simple things well, like a classic beer battered fish and chips with mushy peas, the booze is plentiful and varied, and the venue itself is unimposing, welcoming, and pretty damn relaxed. The verandah in the carpark is a great spot to suck back some Sunday arvo ales, and the basketball court out back is exactly the ticket to blow off some steam when the Waratahs lose, again.

On top of that, the Vic has always remained a staunch defender of live music around town, hosting live bands every weekend. In keeping with the theme of the inner west, the Vic's regular lineup features some of the best garage bands coming out of the area, as well as a few touring acts, strutting their stuff on the Vic's famous outdoor stage.

The Vic's the kind of place where everyone's welcome, even your number one pupper. Not only are hounds allowed in the pub, everyone's encouraged to bring their doggo in, even if beer is about as good for dogs as milk or Oreos.
