Sydney is about to get its first ever vegan market. As of November 19, conscientious consumers will be able to wander through the stalls at Marrickville's Portuguese Community Club on the third Sunday of every month, completely free to sample, sip, browse and buy, without having to worry one iota about flesh, leather or cruelty.
The monthly happening is an initiative of Vegan NSW (previously known as The Vegan Society) and, for the most part, is all about food. You can expect to see Sydney's most popular vegan brands, peddling everything from burgers and wraps to cheese, chocolate and coffee.
When you're done eating and drinking, you can spend time perusing fashion and homewares or kicking back to live entertainment. In fact, they're even inviting vegan musicians to apply to perform. Plus, if you're a producer, grower, maker or seller of vegan goods, then it's not too late to express interest in running a stall.
