Overview

The remarkable Venice Bienniale exhibition Future Islands is showing at the Adam Art Gallery at the moment. In conjunction with the season, the New Zealand Institute of Architecture is bringing together some of Wellington brightest minds in architecture to talk about some of the Wellington buildings featured in the exhibition.

Audiences will hear from Christine Norman (partner of the late Gerald Melling), Robin Aitken (Athfield Architects) and Kylee Herbert (resident of the Athfield complex) and Chris Kelly and Jesse Matthews. They'll speak to questions and issues in architecture connected to these buildings — among them tsunami housing project challenges, the overlap between private, public and communal spaces in the Athfield complex, and the technicalities of installing a complicated geometric roof onto the Ahuriri Valley Lodge.
