Overview

Has the Wellington weather made you wish you were in a land far, far away? Are you looking for an escape pod that also serves good coffee with local films? If so, jump into Nga Taonga's cosy cinema and settle in with their Sci-Fi July program.

For the entire month of July, Nga Taonga is screening otherworldly films and sci-fi series at their Taranaki Street cinema. Amongst the program are the nostalgic and spooky TV shows, Children of the Dog Star and Under the Mountain. This is a great chance to relive those childhood memories hiding behind your blanket because of a scary latex monster. Or if you're looking for something a little meta, very Kiwi, and full of belly laughs, try This Giant Papier Mache Boulder is Actually Really HeavyIt's a bit of Monty Python and a little Red Dwarf bundled up in New Zealand comedy. However, if you're wanting something a little more serious, get sucked into Eternity. This 2013 local production explores the scary possibilities of a simulation universe through an intense murder mystery storyline.

Head to Nga Taonga's website to check out the full program and book tickets.
