Overview

The New Zealand Dance Company is bringing you its most provocative and poetic double bill yet; premiering this September are the works of the talented Ross McCormack and Lina Limosani.

Fascinated by people bestowing huge importance and almost mythological or religious cathartic experiences to benign objects, Creative New Zealand's 2015 Choreographic Fellow, Ross McCormack brings you Matter. Contemplating purpose, indecision, and environment within a surreal world of poles, Matter is the latest work from one of New Zealand's finest and internationally acclaimed dance artists.

Second on the bill is Lina Limosani's black comedy Whispers from Pandora's Box exploring the dichotomy of good and evil within human nature. You'll be treated to Elizabethan inspired costumes, a mashup of film soundtracks and absurd scores from the 2016 Dame Peggy van Pragh Choreographic Award recipient. A performing art and teacher who has been creating work since 2002, Lina spent years performing with Garry Stewart's Australian Dance Theatre and strongly believes in the collaborative process. Whispers from Pandora's Box promises both the macabre and humorous.

With two powerhouse talents on the bill, this season is sure to set the stage on fire.
