Overview

For the past 21 days Wellington has played host to a world-first showcase of events paying tribute to Jim Henson and his brood of loveable puppets.

The three-week-long Jim Henson Retrospectacle will wrap up this weekend with a special New Zealand Symphony Orchestra concert featuring Oscar-winning songwriter Bret McKenzie (of Flight of the Conchords) and loveable characters from Sesame Street, The Muppets and Fraggle Rock. The concert will be a joyous, hilarious and heartfelt tribute to Jim Henson's musical legacy.

As music supervisor on the 2011's The Muppets, McKenzie wrote four original songs for the film. He won an Academy Award for the song 'Man or Muppet'.

There will be four world premiere concerts across April 27-28 at Michael Fowler Centre.
