Overview

Every part of Taupou Tatau is soaked in family and culture. This studio has a real friendly vibe, with four artists- Tuigamala Andy Tauafiafi, Jaco Schmidt, Bryan (Juse1) Visala, Jonny Hillson- and a reputation as the place to go for Polynesian tattoos, it's always buzzing. Professionalism is most important to the artists, as is authenticity and acknowledging their specialities.

Taupou Tatau pride themselves in offering a comfortable and trustworthy space to chill out and remember where you came from. Polynesian, Māori, black and grey portraits, graffiti, lettering and pretty much anything you bring in, they are equipped to do. A barber resides in the same space, adding to the communal atmosphere. The artists here like to keep it relaxed and it's evident in the vibes radiating from the level one studio in the James Smith building.
