    Get a bit of Rome into your home with a delivery from Marta. The self-styled osteria focuses on Italian cuisine principles of fresh ingredients and deep flavours, and the delivery menu features the kind of dishes you’d normally have to get dressed up for. Share thin-crust tomato-based pizza for antipasto, before tackling a slow-braised osso buco or a traditional Tuscan flatbread pizza. Then round off the whole thing with a hazelnut shortbread tiramisu.

    For the last several years, The Oxford Tavern’s barbecue smoker has been responsible for some of Sydney’s best brisket and pulled meats, and now you can have those slices of heaven delivered straight to your door. We’re firmly in Deep South territory with tater tots, buffalo hot wings and pulled pork burgers all making an appearance on the menu. But if you want to make your night in a special event, it’s got to be The Fully Loaded Plate: a selection of all the meats The Tav has to offer, plus pickles, barbecue sauce and cornbread for $120.

    It may still be relatively fresh for Sydneysiders, but DOC has been a Melbourne favourite since the 90s. Much more than your everyday pizza joint, the Surry Hills outpost is a pizza and mozzarella bar and you can order hunks of cheese to complement your choice of food fired delights. Nothing says friendship like a spirited fight over the final slice, and things are sure to get heated with offerings ranging from the traditional margarita and capricciosa to the more outlandish toppings. The $29 tiger prawn pizza, with endive and fresh chilli, is pretty irresistible.

    The Hellenic

    As far as Greek food goes, you can’t get much more authentic than a restaurant run by a chef raised on the island of Kefalonia. Owner Dimitri Travlos pays homage to his seaside upbringing with a menu including baby calamari, chargrilled octopus and marinated prawns. Some of the descriptions dare you not to order them, too. You can’t fail to be intrigued by a seafood dish that “will never come off the menu” or lamb that’s so tender it “can be eaten with a spoon”. There’s also the tongue-in-cheek GFC — Greek Financial Crisis Plate — with chicken bifteki, tzatziki, tomato, onion, chips and pita for $19. Sign us the Hell(enic) up.

    Gami Chicken & Beer

    Anyone who’s tried Korean fried chicken knows it’s a cut above, and we’re pretty sure the Colonel doesn’t offer kimchi pancakes as a side. Gami was started by a group of uni friends in Melbourne almost 15 years ago, and it has turned a deliciously simple formula — fried chicken and beer — into a multi-million dollar franchise. Next time you’re looking to treat you and your crib, order a feast and discover why it’s such an enormous success. Over-order because cold fried chicken straight from the fridge is a real gift of the gods.

    You won’t regret ordering from Al Barakeh. Firstly, it’s run by people who have been spreading the joys of Lebanese food across Sydney for over a decade. Secondly, it has car-themed burgers called The Cattleac, The Chicken Burgatti and The Lamburghini (so it’s a fun time). Thirdly, it has expert proponents of the two great Lebanese salads: tabbouleh and fattoush. You can also order an entire bag of addictive, pillowy-soft Lebanese bread for just two bucks. All that and we haven’t even mentioned the mouth-watering charcoal chicken that made it famous in the first place, which is definitely what you should order. A whole charcoal chook with garlic sauce is $17.

    Whether you like to order a bit of everything to share with your dining partners, or want to tuck into a banquet all to yourself, this Newtown haunt’s lockdown menu has you covered. Pick and choose from the menu’s abundance of share plates, from roast pear salad or chickpea pancake with crushed peas to polenta chips with gorgonzola or fried chicken and a side of harissa ketchup for dipping. If you’re the type to get jealous when sharing your food, never fear. You can order Bloodwood’s $45 banquet for one, featuring pecan pate, bread, polenta chips, salad, roast pumpkin and lamb kofta. Finish off the feast with a dark fudge chocolate cake or swing past for pickup and grab yourself a takeaway Tommy’s margarita or gin and apricot spritz.

    PappaRich has always had a clear manifesto — to bring a taste of Malaysian culture and cuisine to the people of Australia. Given the menu contains everything you could ever want from a KL cafe, it’s fair to say it’s mission accomplished.     Green Gourmet waves a magic wand over what it means to eat plant-based food. Proudly vegan since 1998, this Sydney gem has been serving up all the goods we thought we’d have to sacrifice: salt and pepper ‘calamari’, barbecue not-pork buns, roast ‘pork’ and crispy ‘duck’. The dishes are so ingenious that founder Colin Fung says many of its customers aren’t committed to the plant-based life, they’re just looking for good food. Green Gourmet has yum cha feasts, and a long menu of Chinese and Southeast Asian favourites, plus handcrafted desserts that are also entirely plant-based and gluten-free. Locals can order pickup or delivery straight from the menu, or else the restaurant delivers cook-it-yourself vegan treats as well as dairy-free baked goods throughout Sydney and the Central Coast.

    Enmore Road’s Turkish food haven Stanbuli is usually a go to for a sit-down feast, but with the restaurant closed for dining, it’s serving up a $38 takeaway banquet. While the menu is changing every few weeks, you’ll find classics beside inventive dishes like beetroot tabouli, lamb and potato kofte and Stanbuli’s house pide, depending on the week. If the banquet isn’t already enough of a feast for you and your housemates, you can add on extras like honey glazed lamb ribs or a saucy chicken snack pack with marinated chicken placed upon a bed of chicken-salted chips.
