Hanuman
This melting point of Asian cuisine serves up everything from Sri Lankan hoppers to mung bean tiramisu.
Overview
At Hanuman, chef Jimmy Shu will take you on a culinary journey through Southeast Asia. You'll feast on pork rolls, rich garlic dahl and sweet lychee-laced curries. Opening back in 1992, Hanuman has been a bit of a Darwin institution. It has since moved from its original shopfront, relocating to the esplanade on Mitchell Street and offering 90 outdoor seats, with a further 90 inside. On the menu, you'll find roti, prawn pakoras, roast duck salad, masala lamb cutlets, eggplant pacchadi and biryani. For dessert, there's wattalappan (Sri Lankan coconut pudding), mung bean tiramisu and black rice brulée. There are also two banquet menus to choose from if you're really looking for a feast. Or you could sit down for a long leisurely Sunday brunch of egg hoppers, thai congee, dosas and laksa.
