Overview

A relative newcomer to the Port Douglas restaurant scene, Melaleuca is the culmination of award-winning chef Adam Ion's nine years spent cooking in the area.

The eatery is open from 3pm every day with a snack menu on offer — think oysters, ploughman's boards and fresh prawns — which you can enjoy al fresco in the courtyard under a canopy of mango trees. After dark, the focus shifts to the a la carte menu. The venue pegs itself as modern Australian but there are clear nods to Asian cuisines — Ion's wife is from Korea — in the spices and sauces that air paired with local ingredients.
