Overview

A public servant turned self-taught, award-winning chocolatier may sound like the premise of a sweet (albeit dubious) romantic comedy, but it just so happens to be the trajectory that Li Peng Monroe has taken to arrive at Jasper and Myrtle. Her bean-to-bar chocolate company is located at the Dairy Road precinct in Fyshwick, and Monroe runs it with her partner in life and business, Peter.

Jasper and Myrtle prides itself equally on the quality of the single-origin handmade chocolate as it does the sustainability, traceability and ethics of sourcing its beans from Papua New Guinea's Autonomous Region of Bougainville. Don't miss the highly lauded 66-percent dark chocolate bar, which is made using the surprisingly intense, fruit-forward Trinitario bean.
