Overview
The River Shannon offers great opportunities for stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). One provider, Shannon Sup, offers tours for small groups and individuals, and private bookings are also available.
There are plenty of routes available. You could start in Hannon Harbour in County Offaly and journey through the river Brosna as it branches off from the famed Shannon. Alternatively, you can start in County Kildare, further south, on the eco SUP tour that meanders through the Milltown Feeder canal — an easier paddle and ideal for beginnings or groups with younger children.
