The Culpeper
A four-storey gastropub in Shoreditch with a stellar rooftop bar.
Overview
This upscale spot in Whitechapel is offering a new kind of pub experience – without losing the cosy charm. The Culpeper is split over three public areas, plus rooms to stay: the ground floor pub, first floor restaurant, and a rooftop terrace and garden where you can enjoy a "regenerative" set lunch menu spotlighting ingredients grown on-site. All three venues focus on responsibly sourced ingredients, seasonal flavour and warm hospitality, along with craft beers, house cocktails and skinsy, natty numbers from the wine cellar.
The pub is a casual affair of natural wood finishes, exposed brick and warm hanging lamplight. You can grab classics like sage and apple sausage rolls or a Sunday roast with Yorkshire pudding. The bistro-style restaurant offers refined dishes that spotlight the seasonal best of Britain. On the terrace you can eat metres away from where the ingredients are grown on the 500 square foot urban farm. Culpepper leads the way in what a sustainable, responsible pub can be. Plus, it's a gorgeous spot for a beer.
