From perfume apothecaries to intimate boudoirs, Armadale's High Street is lined with some of the most considered boutiques in Australia. Its newest resident, Love Isabelle, fits right in with a jewellery store disguised as an old-world parlour. Sydney designer Isabelle Sidd started her namesake brand as a high schooler in 2017. Now, Love Isabelle has grown into four outposts, including two in Sydney and Byron Bay. Following a bar-inspired Manly outpost, the Melbourne flagship opened its doors in early April. This time, Isabelle has teamed up with Sydney studio Coffey Hallett, borrowing from living rooms worthy of Architectural Digest features to a retail space with "a domestic sensibility", says Coffey Hallett. The studio prioritised emotion when designing the space. It's swathed in nostalgic floral accents, carried through in details like a statement front-window lamp from Melbourne designer BMDO, custom sofas upholstered in a burnt-orange floral fabric from Rubelli, and a pair of lampshades atop a chrome dining table. Love Isabelle's jewellery displays blend cleverly into the room, with photo frames holding up dainty wristwatches and gold hoop earrings on the warm timber walls. Gemstone rings, rolo chain necklaces and more pieces sit in a modular cabinet. The layout is designed for a slower and freer retail experience, turning the usual formality of jewellery shopping into something that feels like rifling through Nana's jewellery box. It's well worth the trip down to try on Love Isabelle's full online range, IRL. "If customers are making the effort to come in, they should have access to everything they've seen online," she says. She's also working on a capsule collection that will be exclusive to High Street. Love Isabelle is now open Monday–Saturday from 9.30am–5.30pm and Sunday from 10am–4pm at 1250 High Street, Armadale.
