Columbia Road Flower Market
Swing by this Bethnal Green Sunday market for beautiful blooms, houseplants, succulents and herbs.
Overview
Just off Hackney Road, explore a genuine living relic of the old East End that has been going strong since 1869. Every Sunday, from 8am–3pm, the Columbia Road Flower Markets fill the street with blooms and plant-lovers. The road is closed to transport, and crammed with greenery and flowers. Gardening supplies and carpets of blooming colour spill out of crates and buckets.
Listen out for the cries of sellers with their telltale cockney accents. Some of these family-run stalls have called this market home for generations. All weather, all seasons, expect innumerable flowers, houseplants and seedlings, as well as buskers and other market wares, including baked goods, vintage pieces and handmade homewares. Arrive early to miss the crowds or later to score a deal at the end-of-trade. Duck in and out of the East End pubs (both old school and hipster), cafes, book shops and local pop-ups.
