Overview
The National Portrait Gallery reopens in full to the public in 2023 following a renewal and refurbishment. The gallery and archives are home to over 220,000 portraits, from paintings to photography, sketches, miniatures, sculptures and prints, ranging from the eighth century to the present day. They feature portrait art prizes, exhibitions of key artists and groundbreaking creators, explorations of artistic themes and cultural moments, and displays of some of the most iconic portraits from history.
