Overview

Tucked away in a 400-year-old stone vaulted cellar beneath Valletta's Strait Street, Trabuxu Wine Bar is the city's first-ever wine bar. It has been serving top-notch vino to patrons for over two decades and counting.

If wine and cheese are your go-to indulgences, there's no better spot than this underground wine nirvana. Sip on a local Maltese wine, or try a glass of wine from across Europe or even as far as Argentina—there are even some Aussie and New Zealander drops that made the cut.

Each order comes with a delightful array of chutneys and jams, as well as fresh Maltese bread and water crackers. If you'd like something more substantial, there is a selection of cured meats, salumi, terrine and liver parfaits, as well as an extensive collection of cheese to create a cheese board of your choice.

A culinary institution cherished by locals and visitors, Trabuxu doesn't just include the wine bar in the cellar; there's also the street-level bistro where guests can enjoy a seasonal menu of fresh seafood, meat dishes and pasta. Trabuxu also offers some luxe accommodation options near the wine bar and bistro.

Trabuxu offers the ideal setting to unwind, share a bottle, and rejuvenate those weary tourist feet.
