Overview

Upper Barrakka Gardens, dating back to the 1560s, is a historic public garden in Valletta that provides sweeping views of the Grand Harbour and Vittoriosa's Grand Harbour Marina.

Originally exclusive to the knights of the Italian langue of the Order of Saint John, but were opened to the public after the end of the French occupation of Malta in 1800.

Make sure you're around at 12pm or 4pm to see (and hear) the ceremonial firing of the cannons in the Saluting Battery.

So, if you appreciate a blend of stunning gardens and rich history, be sure to take a moment to unwind on one of the many benches, enjoying the refreshing sea breeze while taking in the beauty of Malta's coastline.
