Downpatrick

Overview

As one of Ireland's oldest towns, Downpatrick is teeming with historic landmarks. Overlooking the Quoile River, Inch Abbey features the beautiful ruins of a 12th-century monastery. Then, a short distance upstream, Quoile Castle offers a glimpse into the 1600s. But if you're looking for something even older, the Ballynoe Stone Circle dates back to Neolithic times, with this esoteric formation said to have a celestial connection.
