Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen has been redefining street style by embodying modern femininity on whimsical ASICS Sportstyle sneakers since 2023. Her cool-girl designs are on many a wishlist – previous collaborations sold out within minutes. From Saturday, September 12, ASICS Sportstyle will unveil two core colourways for its new GEL-KINETIC™ FR silhouette: Piedmont Grey-Silver and Black Coffee. The everyday sneaker is defined by its light-catching, textured surface and sculptural heel cushioned by GEL™ technology, while Bahnsen's design language shines through flower motifs that rise and sink across the sneaker's surface. The dainty layers are inspired by the kinetic energy of petals falling, stems growing, and nature's constant shift. "I love the richness of detail and the playful elements that unfold across the shoe, giving them a sense of movement and bringing them to life. From the delicate transparencies and flower-shaped eyelets to the interplay of matte and glossy finishes, each layer introduces something unexpected and [feels] light, joyful and full of playfulness," Banhsen says. Look out for familiar flourishes from Banhsen's ready-to-wear label, like her signature drawcord lacing and adorable flower eyelets. The much-anticipated sneakers will also sport flower charms and beads, along with an archival softly-padded half-tongue and adjustable Velcro straps. The Cecilie Bahnsen x ASICS GEL-KINETIC™ FR will be available through select retailers and ASICS channels worldwide from 12 September. Like what you see?
