Overview

With green glass pendants, bouncing light off of brass-detailed mirrors, green carpet and green leather booths, the dimly lit speakeasy-style Maybe Mae is a glowing treat for the senses.

The basement lounge is accessible on Peel Street, downstairs from Bread & Bone and through a large, circular opening in the wall

Once boasting a 24-drink menu, its post-lockdown reopening has prompted a new perspective on the award-winning cocktails. In a bid to support South Australian producers and businesses, the current cocktail list is designed to showcase exactly that.

With crisp, saline drinks inspired by the south coast and aromatic concoctions mixed up in honour of the hills, the concise menu places new cocktails alongside the house classics.

Sourcing ingredients and garnishes from within South Australia means you'll be twirling your ice with the likes of samphire, eucalypt, anise myrtle and holy basil.

If you don't see anything you like, have a chat to the staff behind the bar who are always more than willing to whip you up something special. Each drink is prepared with a reverence for the art of cocktail making — and it's almost guaranteed that you'll have to stop yourself from knocking it back too quickly.
