Overview

Darwin Aboriginal Art Fair (DAAF) is back, and this year it's celebrating a huge milestone. Now in its 20th edition, the event features over 1,500 artists from more than 80 art centres across Australia, including several of our most remote. That includes Warlayirti Artists, Tjanpi Desert Weavers, Iwantja Arts, Jilamara Arts and many, many more.

With the event designed to showcase the rich diversity and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art, design and culture, it's considered one of the best ways to purchase authentic Indigenous art ethically while directly supporting the artists and their communities. In fact, 100 percent of sales go back into the art centres that elevate this crucial work.

As always, the 2026 fair features an exciting entertainment program, spanning dance performances, workshops, material demonstrations and artist talks, as well as food, film and fashion. For instance, Chapman & Bailey — a long-standing art gallery and partner of DAAF — will delve into the wonderful materials trusted by the artists themselves.

There is also a host of activities for the kids, with workshops led by renowned artists and collectives, including Manuel Pamkal and Erub Arts, that introduce little ones to different art styles and practices on Country. Of course, if you can't make it to Darwin, you're always welcome to explore the art fair online.
