A drive-thru usually involves a car, a window and a deep fryer somewhere behind the scenes. This one skips all three. Sunbeam is taking over Martin Place for two hours on Tuesday, October 20, with The Fry-Thru, a walk-up pop-up serving free bao cooked fresh by Steph de Sousa, better known as the Air Fryer Queen. The one-day event marks the launch of Sunbeam's new Multi Zone Steam Air Fryer, which brings steaming and air frying together to cook food with a crisp outside and juicy inside, a combination Sunbeam calls Steam Fry. At The Fry-Thru, Steph will be putting Steam Fry to the test, giving Sydneysiders a chance to taste what the appliance can do. Steph's recipe is coming home with you too. Attendees can take away her recipe card to recreate the bao in 15 minutes, while exclusive discount codes will also be available for anyone tempted to take the new appliance home with them. Sunbeam has been making appliances for Australian kitchens for more than 100 years. Now, it's taking its latest air fryer out of the kitchen and into the CBD, where visitors can try the steam-and-air-fry approach for themselves rather than relying on a list of specs to explain it. The Fry-Thru will run from 12–2pm on Tuesday, October 20, at Martin Place, Sydney. It's free to attend, with 400 bao available.
