Overview

Offering no-frills, family restaurant hospitality since 1947, Trattoria da Emilia is something of a local legend and tourist stop. For one, it has an incredible location, right on the water of Marina Grande. For another, the food has maintained quality and tradition through three generations of family management. D

ishes like gnocchi with seafood, crispy fried anchovies, antipasti and fresh-caught seafood grilled mere metres from the sea are still crowdpleasers — as are the freshly baked cakes, of course.

And lastly, the current matriarch Donna Emidia famously welcomed Italian film stars Sofia Loren and Vittorio De Sica to these same tables with their simple chequered tablecloths when the actors were filming here in 1954. It's worth stopping in to experience a little of that star treatment with your meal.
