Twenty years ago in a quiet South London suburb named Morden a father bought his six children a piano in an attempt to get them away from the TV. It sat in the living room unused until the youngest boy took a liking to it at the ripe age of three. Fast forward to 2017 and that boy is Sampha, one of the UK's most respected and talented pianists and vocalists.
He's worked with legends like SBTRKT, Jessie Ware, Drake, Kanye West, Solange, Koreless and Katy B, toured the world and released two critically acclaimed EPs— both of which are noted for their meditative and melodious presentation of the classic piano ballad, tinged with electronic production. His debut album, Process, is his most complete project yet and has seen praise from critics and fans alike.
As part of a lengthy album release tour in 2017, Sampha will drop by Auckland for a one-off show at Studio The Venue.
