From humble beginnings at a farmer's market, J'aime les macarons is now a full-fledged sweet tooth's sanctuary in Christchurch. Now, with the demand spreading north, the company has decided to test the waters with a pop-up shop in Newmarket.

The shop can be found inside the Seletti Concept Store down Osborne Lane. It will be open everyday until Christmas, with fresh macarons sent up from the Christchurch kitchen.

J'aime aren't your average macaron makers; for a start the company was started by a commercial lawyer. Additionally, they combine quality ingredients and a Willy Wonka ethos to create off-the-wall flavour variations, like the Burgeron: a macaron in the appearance of a burger with sesame bun shells, chocolate caramel ganache, white chocolate tomato sauce and a square of fondant cheese. Previous bonkers flavour combinations include: blue cheese, fig and ginger, and balsamic vinegar and raspberry.

The classic and seasonal collection can be found at the pop-up, including their all time favourite macarons: chocolate, lemon, vanilla, pistachio, rose and salted butter caramel, and the Winter Collection which has flavours such as peanut butter and jam, sticky date pudding, and apple and walnut.

Find J'aime les macarons at the Seletti Concept Store: Osborne Lane, 2 Kent Street, Newmarket.
