Overview

Penfolds Magill Estate sits at the company's original Adelaide foothills vineyard — the spiritual home of the brand since it was founded in 1844, and the actual site where winemaker Max Schubert developed the first vintage of Grange in 1951. The restaurant runs a rotating degustation menu from head chefs Scott Huggins and Emma McCaskill, built to showcase Penfolds' full range rather than leaning solely on Grange's reputation.

The cellar holds a rare collection of back-vintage Penfolds, including flagship wines like Grange, Yattarna and Bin 707 poured together in a way you won't find anywhere else, set against working vineyard views that put you inside the wine's actual origin story rather than just its label. The recognition backs it up — South Australian Restaurant of the Year multiple times over, and a spot at #18 on La Liste's 2025 ranking of the world's best restaurants.
