The Summertown Aristologist

An elevated expression of local produce in the Adelaide Hills.

Overview

As could be imagined of an eatery under the reign of minimal intervention winemakers, the food philosophy at The Summertown Aristologist is simple: an elevated expression of local produce.

A large majority of this produce they grow themselves, and deep thought goes into what exactly comes out of the garden. The result is a menu celebrating the natural harmony of seasonality.

From the churning of butter and roasting of coffee beans, to fermenting, pickling, dry-aging and curing, the alchemy that ends up on your plate all begins here on the Summertown property.

The small dining space is reminiscent of the European southwest, offering a bar, booths and a long central table lined with stools, designed for communal dining.

Before choosing your meal's accompanying tipple, head through the green door and downstairs into the cellar. There, racks of international and local wines line the cave walls, leading your eye to a glass-fronted room where hanging saucisson, and prosciutto age gracefully on show.

Back upstairs and next door, in the newly built cellar door, enjoy tastings and takeaway bottles of natural wines by Aristologist Co-Owners Jasper Button of Commune of Buttons, Anton Van Klopper of Lucy Margaux, and Aaron Fenwick of Château Comme Ci Comme Ça.
