Overview

The Royal Canal Greenway is a 120-kilometre-long walking and cycling path introducing visitors to the Hidden Heartlands.

The route stretches from the lush Kildare suburb of Maynooth to the charming harbour village of Clondara in County Longford. It is lined by picturesque fields and agrarian infrastructure. You can opt for the entire six-day hike or complete sections and catch a train back to the starting point.

Whether you pedal or hike, your journey will feature 200-year-old bridges and fascinating native wildlife, such as herons, swans and badgers.
