Since its 2018 launch, Love Athletica has been a major player in Melbourne's pilates scene. Known for its high-energy classes, the boutique studio has grown to five locations in its hometown, one in Canberra and three in Adelaide. But founders Mat and Caroline Knipe haven't forgotten about Western Australia. On Saturday, October 24, Love Athletica will open its first Perth studio in Nedlands Square. Backed by an estimated $1 million investment in the local economy, the expansion aims to create 15 jobs within the first six months. "Perth was always on the roadmap. We were actually looking at Perth before COVID and the pandemic delayed those plans, so this has been a long time coming," Mat says. "Nedlands is our first home in Western Australia, not our last." The California-inspired fitout is "designed to offer a sense of calm and luxury to people who've made time in the day for themselves," Caroline says. Here, expect 50-minute reformer classes — both athletic and functional strength formats — alongside hot mat and yoga sessions in an atmospheric 35-degree hot mat studio. Weekly founding membership prices start at $44 for unlimited mat sessions and $59 for the full offering. Each Love Athletica workout ends with a moment to reconnect the mind and body. Reformer classes close off with a yoga-inspired flow, while an overhead cooling spritz rounds off hot mat sessions. Thoughtful touches like three showers, fluffy white towels, and a beauty bar for post-class refreshes complete the experience. Across all Love Athletica locations, the hot mat studio features a different neon lyric inspired by the brand's signature tunes. Norwood's reads 'Drop it like it's...' and 'We found love' adorns the one in Canberra. The Perth-exclusive line is 'I got it from my mumma' – a nod to will.i.am's hit single.
