Overview

Concrete Theatre is back in Aotea Square for a second-year running. So pull up a deck chair and enjoy a diverse range of outdoor circus and theatre events for free.

Marvel at Fuse Circus' show Campground Chaos, a fast-paced, funny and irreverent look at Kiwi culture, complete with rope swings and flying picnic tables. Be amazed by the back flips and drum beats performed by Strike Percussion. Exploring elements of our heritage, rhythms and environment Strike is New Zealand’s foremost percussionist group. This show incorporates repertoire from previous shows, including In the Cube, Elemental and Cubed for a special stand-alone performance.

Homer's classic Odyssey is retold in an epic outdoor feast of story-telling by fresh-faced Northland Youth Theatre Company members. Audiences will be plunged into a world of angry gods and lustrous goddesses as Odysseus struggles to return home from the Trojan War.

Two colourful characters from the street go head-to-head in Double Derelicts. The brazen comics use their charm and guile to get whatever they can in the pursuit of money, bananas and a shoe. Sparks and the shoe will fly. This is brilliant physical theatre and dance brought to you by the clever clowns at The White Face Crew.

Concrete Theatre performances run every Monday to Friday from noon to 4pm, and Friday and Saturday evenings from 5pm until 11pm.
