There's surely no better way to pre-celebrate the All Blacks win over Australia at Eden Park, than to welcome in one of the largest developments in the Auckland viaduct since the viaduct itself.
Anticipation levels are high for this new social district of Auckland. From the much talked about Viaduct Events Centre to the heritage cargo shed and fishing boats tied up beside it. Ten new restaurants and bars are on offer at North Wharf, introducing an exciting and new social setting that also promises the perfect place to have a waterfront stroll.
The opening event for the Wynyard Quarter on Saturday 6 August 2011 kick off at 7am with an opening powhiri, with John Key and Len Brown in attendance. There is plenty of kids activities including Boat rides and Lantern Workshops. And from Midday, live entertainment starts featuring the likes of Don McGlashin, The Vietnam War and Coast that will see the start of fortnightly live music down at Silo Park.
