Do you thrive off the written word? Do you wield a pen better than most? Do you eat dictionaries for breakfast? Well, we may just have a spot for you on our team here at Concrete Playground.

Concrete Playground is looking for an additional paid freelance cultural connoisseur based in either Wellington or Auckland to join us, starting immediately.

About you:

You have taste. You love eating the occasional oyster alongside a glass of champers as well as Big J's cheap and beautiful burgers. You like watching interesting French films from time to time, but you also (almost) love Kanye as much as Kanye loves Kanye. You navigate the fields of highbrow and lowbrow culture like a pro: you know your memes and trends, but it doesn't stop you from making quality-based judgments detached from hype. You can spit out witty short form at a moment's notice but also like taking your time doing longer, more investigative pieces. You know how to use a semicolon.

About us:

We aim to be the most trusted and authoritative guide to cities across Australia and New Zealand. In other words, we want to show people the best cool shit to do, eat and drink around town in a funny, truthful, reliable and interesting manner.

The ideal candidate MUST:

- Write original, creative and honest copy in a timely manner

- Do their research (press releases and Wikipedia don't count, sorry)

- Love living in Auckland/Wellington

- Deliver accurate copy

- Be brimming with ideas for local news features related to culture, music, food, design and sustainability

Extra points for:

- Photography/video skills

- Having an enthusiasm for clever puns

To apply, email [email protected] with the header "CONCRETE PLAYGROUND CONTRIBUTOR", a little bit about yourself and some relevant samples of your work. Applications close midnight on the 21st of June, 2015.
