Win Tickets to the Mumm Racing Village at Auckland Cup Day

People eating caviar off their wrists, confetti spontaneously flying in the air, champagne being poured out of a one-metre tall bottle, fascinators; it may sound like some kind of Great Gadsby-themed blowout but in fact all this horseplay is taking place right here in Auckland.

As part of Auckland Cup Day at Ellerslie Racecourse on March 12, one of France's largest champagne producers, Mumm, will be throwing the bubbles around via the new addition of a track-side champagne lawn. In addition to views of the home straight, the Mumm Racing Village will allow guests to enjoy a lineup of champagne varieties and champagne cocktails. A gourmet BBQ comprising canapés and small plates will also be on offer at the event.

Because conventional, shrimp-sized bottles of bubbles are nothing to scream from the rooftops about, organisers are flying in a gargantuan 15 litre Nebuchadnezzar bottle of Mumm Cordon Rouge especially for the roped off VIP area. The bottle stands at one metre tall and comes with a cork that can launch up to 30 metres; it also requires three fully-sized humans to pour.
