If you've been lucky enough to sample the goods from Krispy Kreme, you'll know they bite like a cloud and taste like scoffing a wheelbarrow of sweet, sweet sugar.

Word first started circulating that the global doughnut conglomerate was en route to New Zealand earlier this year. It's now been confirmed that Auckland's first Krispy Kreme outlet will open its doors at 3 Ronwood Ave, Manukau on Wednesday 28 February, 2018. Every guest will be treated to a free doughnut upon arrival.

Founded in the U.S. in 1934, the chain can now be found in 35 countries across the globe. Australian-based franchise owners are behind the Auckland opening and will be launching it as part of an $8 million development owned by the Wiri Licensing Trust. The site will offer both retail and drive-through services and production facilities that can pump out more than 4320 doughnuts per hour.

While you wait for the opening, say hello to some of the city's best independent doughnut producers over here.
