Better Burger Has Created Edible Packaging for Earth Day
Have your burger and wrapper too.
With an unfathomable load of disposable packaging heading to the landfill (and beyond) every year, sustainability is a hot topic in the fast food industry. Sure, there's recycling, and the unrealistic option of taking your own reusable cutlery to a restaurant, but there must be other measures that can be taken.
In line with this year's Earth Day and to encourage conversation around sustainable practices in fast food, New Zealand-owned burger joint Better Burger has created packaging that you can eat alongside your beef and bun.
The company is challenging customers that pop into its Mt Eden store on Sunday 22 April to refrain from unwrapping their neat little burger package and chow down, wrapper and all. Better Burger's special Earth Day wrappers are made from potato starch wafer paper (normally used for cake decorating) so are perfectly fit for human consumption. They also come complete with branding that is applied with edible ink.
To top it off, anyone who buys a Better Burger Earth Day edible wrapper burger (hamburger, cheeseburger, double cheeseburger or mushroom burger) will get free fries. The promo is available at the Mt Eden restaurant from 11am – 1pm. There are 500 available.
