Overview

A cold beer nestled into your hand; surf, travel and lifestyle photography to ponder over; waves breaking off in the distance. Sounds like where you'd rather be?

For six weeks starting on January 16, Corona Extra is transforming the Piha Surf Life Saving Club into a pop-up gallery housing ten images by ten globally recognised surf, travel and lifestyle photographers - all inspired by their own unique time spent photographing the breaks and nature of New Zealand's stunning coastlines. On show will be works by Derek Henderson, Chris Burkard, Morgan Maassen, Chris Searl, Skip James, Rambo Estrada, Richard Hodder, Scott Stinson, Jerry Aubertin and CPL.

Guardians of the waves, the Piha Surf Life Saving Club has saved 307 lives from drowning in the notorious black sanded west coast beach over the course of the last six years alone. The Club is currently fundraising for a major redevelopment of their facilities, where the Corona Extra-curated NZ Perspectives exhibition and auction will help to generate much-needed dosh for PSLSC, while also capturing the spirit of "From Where You'd Rather Be" (an easy task for a place like Piha).

Besides having some beautiful art on display, Corona will also be creating a temporary deck at the front of the Club - an ideal little spot to have a cold one and enjoy the Piha sunset. The deck will be open from 4.30pm – Sunset every Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. All proceeds from the sale of Corona on the deck will contribute to the fundraising efforts of the PSLSC.

All photographs will be sold in an online auction from February 20.
