Local artists looking for a creative hideaway without the distractions of home life, and still within arm's reach of civilisation and a decent hit of caffeine, now have a promising option in one of Auckland’s most prosperous suburbs.

Making its debut run this year, the creative residency programme at Studio One Toi Tu will offer six months of free studio space to four lucky artists from November 2015 to April 2016. Located in the heart of Ponsonby, the studio is a thriving hub of creative expression and is regularly used as an outlet for people to share ideas, skills and practices.

The four residencies up for grabs are open to all creative disciplines including fine art, creative writing, literature, design, object art, film making, fashion or anything with a solid idea behind it. The programme includes hands on mentorship from industry professionals (if required) and 24-hour access to facilities to help residents achieve their goals. Applications close on October 1 2015.
