The perks of belonging to the Concrete Playground, is we can provide our friends with a lot of free stuff. This week, we have double passes to giveaway to two completely different yet both culturally engaging events. They are:

THE ONLY CHILD

Silo Theatre's The Only Child is a gripping portrait of a marriage; darkly funny but ultimately liberating, it deals with the marriage with tension and candour.

They were the ultimate couple, but, like so many others, their relationship has descended into a mash of resent, sexual frustration and withdrawn turmoil.

When their son goes missing, Rita and Alfred are forced to adjust their lives.  This is the rawness of contemporary marriage: mercurial, tender, honest.

Aussie writer/director Simon Stone has picked up Henrik Ibsen's classic text and reframed it for a contemporary audience. Artistic Director Shane Bosher follows up his critically acclaimed, sold out productions of When the Rain Stops Falling andThe Brothers Size with this knockout piece of contemporary theatre.

Featuring Claire Chitham, Josephine Davison, Stephen Lovatt and Sam Snedden.

During the run of each play, Silo Theatre is offering folk aged 30 (TWENTYSOMETHINGS) and under the chance to see their work at a heavily discounted rate.

MT EDEN DUBSTEP

One of the biggest New Zealand bands that you've never heard of, Mt Eden Dubstep will be playing a one off show at Auckland's Backstage bar before they embark on another whirlwind tour of the globe.

Having featured at not only New Zealand's premier festivals such as Homegrown, Rhythm and Vines and Big Day Out, but all across the America's and Europe, Mt Eden Dubstep have carved themselves more than a name with over 8 million views on Sierra Leone video alone and 72,000 fans on Facebook. (to date the New Zealand based act can claim over 70 million collective plays of their tracks on YouTube - more than any other New Zealand act, ever.)

Jesse Cooper and Harley Rayner started mixing together when they were 13 and 14, and after one of their friends set up a You Tube account for them in 2010, it has quickly spiralled from bedrooms and house parties, to main stage festivals and airports. A classic New Zealand success story.

Joining them will be Bulletproof, which ultimately rounds of an envious bill for not only dubstep fans, but all music enthusiasts.

CONCRETE PLAYGROUND has Two VIP Double Passes to giveaway to Mt Eden Dubstep at Backstage this Friday 26th August 2011. Email [email protected] with the subject heading MT EDEN and go in the draw.  You must be subscribed to our database in order to win the double passes.
