Our very own Stephen Carmichael is currently vying for a place in the illustrious Nike Academy at The Chance Global Finals in Barcelona this week.

Stephen Carmichael, 18, has the opportunity of a lifetime, representing New Zealand against 100 other unsigned players from 55 countries.

Carmichael, who took out the Pacific finals at the AIS last month has completed the first two days of competition, held all week at Barcelona FC’s training ground. Also representing the Pacific is Australian's Devante Clut and Matthew Bilic.

The players were surprised during a break in training yesterday with an unexpected visit from FCB players including one of their idols, Andres Iniesta.

The final 52 players will be announced on Thursday, before witling down to 26 on Friday and then the final 16 come Sunday night.

We wish Stephen the best of luck for the finals.
