Auckland Council's much-loved entertainment series returns for summer with a program of 30 free openair events. From January to March, sibling events Music and Movies in Parks will see 20 gigs and 14 movies play out under the stars of Tāmaki Makaurau.

For its 28th year, nearly 70 musical acts will assemble on stages across the city's regional parks and reserves. St Heliers' Glover Park will play host to New Zealand Opera for an evening of classical arrangements, while Kiwi rock anthems will ring through Howick's Lloyd Elsmore Park courtesy of Jordan Luck Band. Further events in the series bring blues riffs to Blockhouse Bay, jazz to Manurewa and hip hop to Sandringham.

The annual Movies in Parks event series brings openair cinema to the leafy suburbs. For 2021 organisers have curated a selection of new releases and old favourites, including The Princess Bride, Footloose, Jumanji: The Next Level and Frozen 2Food trucks will be on-site and Auckland Council will run a zero-waste system at all events.
