Overview

With the temperature incrementally dropping, the time to stow away the togs and pull closer the blankets and popcorn is fast approaching. To help ease the transition into the winter season, the NZIFF Autumn Events will be hosting a selection of classic as well as a handful of premiere films.

The classic component of the NZIFF Autumn Events includes the Coen brothers' Fargo, Siam-based romance The King and I, rom-com The Philadelphia Story starring Katharine Hepburn and Kurosawa's King Lear adaptation Ran. Meanwhile, the newcomers screening at NZIFF Autumn Events include Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker Michael Moore's Where to Invade Next, biopics Ingrid Bergman in Her Own Words and Janis: Little Girl Blue as well as the horror film The Witch.

NZIFF's Autumn Events programme will be running in Auckland's Civic Theatre from 13 till 17 April and the Academy Cinema from 23 April till 3 May, as well as in Wellington's Paramount Cinema from 16 April till 3 May and Embassy Theatre from 7 till 22 May.
