Auckland Live has dropped the first lineup for its outdoor entertainment series, offering city-goers free films, music and activations from 11 December, 2020 to 27 February, 2021. This year's Summer in the Square entertainment program has been scheduled around the 36th America's Cup, with race broadcasts screening live in Aotea Square between DJ sets and performances.

The last Friday before Christmas will see a rousing edition of yuletide karaoke hosted by singer and entertainer Jackie Clarke. Start warming up those vocal cords get ready to jump on stage for the carol sing-along. On Saturday, 19 December, the music continues as Auckland rapper Melodownz hits the main stage for a free headline performance.

From Sunday, 13 December, the Auckland Live Digital Stage will light up with openair films. Every Thursday night there will be screenings of cinematic blockbusters and classics, while Sunday afternoons will be reserved for family-friendly flicks.

Between the yacht racing, interactive sound experience Aotea Symphony will take over the Auckland Live Digital Stage. Passers-by are invited to create their own symphony using surrounding sounds just by stepping on buttons on the ground.

The after party for 2021 Auckland Pride Festival will close out the season, as Aotea Square comes alive with performances from HalfQueen and Randa as well as artists, drag performers and dancers from the city's rainbow community.

Auckland Live's Summer in the Square runs from 11 December, 2020 to 27 February, 2021. More movies, activations and gigs are scheduled to be announced on January 15, 2021. For more information, visit aucklandlive.co.nz.
