New Year's Eve is looking one hellova lot better with the first line-up announcement for Rhythm and Vines 2013. Come December 29, Gisborne's Waiohika Estate will be host to an abundance of top international and local acts including Australian electronic duo Empire of the Sun, making their return to the festival with a new batch of material from their second release Ice on the Dune. And just added on the Friday after the announcement is UK Heavyweights Rudimental (dj set), after a slip mention by the Herald on Wednesday.
Also coming back for a second R&V helping are South London's independent label Hospital Records, set to perform a marathon showcase as their Hospitality club night on the Vines stage.
Flying in from the same part of the globe are dubstep producer and DJ Flux Pavilion, famous for being sampled on the Jay-Z, Kanye collab 'Who Gon Stop Me', Julio Bashmore of Dirtybird label, London based producers Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman aka Rusky, and Glaswegian electronic producer Rustie.
Throw in NZ's number one drum and bass outfit Shapeshifter, Aussie hip-hop group Hermitude, Melbourne's bearded vocal wonder Chet Faker, Boston dance aficionados Soul Clap, The Phoenix Foundation, David Dallas, @Peace, P-Money, Concord Dawn, Tahuna Breaks and you have yourself one great line-up.
